9 Area Students Awarded Nearly $500,000 in Scholarships from Hampton University

The Charlotte Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association hosted an Early Admission and Recruitment Event for Hampton University on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Park. Hampton University Director of Admissions Angela Boyd reviewed application materials, interviewed applicants and made admissions decisions on-site. Of the area students accepted to the University, nine were awarded scholarships totaling nearly $500,000 to attend the University.

Hampton University Founder's Day - Jan. 24

General Samuel Armstrong founded Hampton University 140 years ago and each year HU's President Dr. William R. Harvey and other members of the HU community hold a commemorative wreath placing ceremony at Armstrong's grave site in the Hampton University Cemetery at 9:30am. This is followed by the main ceremony at 11:30am in Ogden Hall featuring a keynote speaker, the HU choir and a variety of awards presented to individuals dedicated to serving others. Calling all Hampton Pirates, family and friends. It's that time of year again for the Queen City Pirates summer cookout. This year's event will be held at the Clanton Pavilion (3132 Manchester Ave, Charlotte) on Saturday, May 30 from 12-5pm.

The cookout will be catered this year. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 8 years and younger. You must RSVP and pay by May 26.
