Founder’s Day Worship and Brunch – Feb. 1
Founder’s Day Worship and
Brunch – Feb. 1
In
1868, the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute – now known as Hampton
University – was established by Gen. Samuel Chapman Armstrong, who was born on
January 30, 1839. As in the past this time of year, University President Dr. William R. Harvey
and other members of the HU community will attend a commemorative
wreath-placing ceremony at Armstrong’s gravesite, among other celebratory
activities.
Our Charlotte alumni chapter
will observe Founder’s Day by worshiping together on February 1, followed by
brunch. Please wear some Hampton blue and join us:
Worship Service - Friendship Missionary Baptist Church - 3400
Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC - Let’s
meet in the sanctuary at 9:15 a.m. so that we can sit together. Ask an usher to
direct you to our seats.
Brunch - Mimi’s CafĂ© - 10224 Perimeter Parkway,
Charlotte, NC (Across from Northlake Mall) - We
will meet for brunch following the service. We’re estimating
11:30 a.m.
Help make sure the legacy continues
by giving to Hampton University! Thank you to those who have given and continue to
give. If you haven’t made a donation to support our alma mater, start giving today!
The
Charlotte Chapter Alumni Giving Code is AAEG. Be sure to always include our Chapter
code in the memo/comments section when making a donation to Hampton. Use these tips and resources to give today:
- Give as much as you can, but ANY amount is great. HU needs to reach an alumni donor participation rate of at least 36% (2X current 18%). So, we need as many alumni as possible to give to HU. Every donor counts! When corporations and other major donors think about giving to HU, they ask for our alumni giving rate. If we don’t care enough to give, why should they?
- Online giving produces an immediate receipt! An automatic draft is available, with frequency options as you desire: http://donateto.hamptonu.edu.
- Or, you can give by mail: We encourage you to fill out a Giving Form, designating amounts and areas. Send a printout of the form with your check made payable to: Office of Alumni Affairs, Hampton University, Hampton, VA 23668.
- Remember Corporate Matching! Know if your company matches; and the max they will match. There are thousands of companies nationwide that will match an employee’s charitable contribution -- often doubling or even tripling the amount of the original gift. In some cases, companies even match gifts made by retired employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please use our convenient search engine.
Give your gift today and encourage other
Hamptonians to do the same: http://donateto.hamptonu.edu.
We hope to see you on February 1!
