Hampton University Founder's Day - Jan. 24

General Samuel Armstrong founded Hampton University 140 years ago and each year HU's President Dr. William R. Harvey and other members of the HU community hold a commemorative wreath placing ceremony at Armstrong's grave site in the Hampton University Cemetery at 9:30am. This is followed by the main ceremony at 11:30am in Ogden Hall featuring a keynote speaker, the HU choir and a variety of awards presented to individuals dedicated to serving others.
